Do you need a pocketed post-surgery bra for a breast form?

Let’s talk about bras…

If you’ve seen our social media recently, you’ll have noticed that our models were proudly wearing their Boosts in a variety of bras – and none of them were specifically designed as ‘post-surgery’ or pocketed.

Increasingly, we have been hearing from Boost wearers across the world that they have found that their Boost Breast Form sits comfortably in their usual bras, and that they haven’t needed a pocket. Traditional breast forms work well, but they often need a pocket to hold them securely in place. A Boost product is much lighter than a traditional prosthesis, but it also behaves differently. It doesn’t flop as much away from the chest as you move, and it doesn’t pull downwards. Therefore, a pocketed post-surgery bra is much more of an optional choice, rather than a breast-form necessity.

We think this is wonderful news.

Having a comfortable breast form without the necessity of a pocket opens up many more possibilities. We were delighted to feature some of these options in our recent campaign shoot. Not only have we been able to showcase our products in sheer designs, we have also been able to deliver a very important message at a time when we are all concerned about two important things:

1)      The environment.

The most environmentally friendly clothes are the ones you already have. So rather than discarding your favourite lingerie, it might still work for you and be much more suitable for a breast form than you had realised. You already know how much the team at Boost cares about sustainability; our breast forms can be recycled and we use cotton bags rather than plastic packaging to put our Boost’s in. We wanted to show that the high street purchases that are already in your bra drawer could still be effective as breast-form holders, as long as they fit you well.

Which brings us to point two.

2)      The cost of, well, everything.

If your bras don’t fit you and you absolutely need to find new ones, pocketed bras can be rather costly. With finances tight, some post-surgery underwear collections might stretch the budget. Trying a non-pocketed bra might be a solution. There are plenty of environmentally conscious bralettes, sports bras and lingerie sets around that offer choice without breaking the bank. So if you need to buy new, buy something FABULOUS that will make you feel amazing and will be a favorite into the future.

Things to remember about pairing your Boost with a bra:

  •       Boost products are made from 100% medical grade silicone, so they are skin safe. Scroll down on our home page for more info!
  •       A pocketed post-surgery bra is a choice – it’s all about what makes you feel comfortable and secure.
  •       Make sure your bra fits you and feels great (whether it’s old, new, pocketed or not)

·       There is a fabulous network of independent bra shops around the UK – take your Boost in and ask for advice if you are looking for a new bra. In our experience, these ladies really know their stuff!

  1. I am about to have a single masectomy. Maybe a suggestion should be personal moulds. It would be ideal to have a plaster cast done prior to my op to have the exact replica.
